Opened as a 24 hour care facility in 2006. At that time, it replaced our original house which had opened in 1989 and was the first HIV+ Group Home in NC. With the changing face of AIDS, we were unable to keep the facility fully occupied and after much research we determined the highest unmet need for stable housing was for recently released HIV+ ex-offenders. In 2009, we converted this home to a Shared Home for HIV+ ex-offenders. Blevins Too is operated by ACRA but operates with a separate funding source and budget.
Blevins Too is a six bedroom Shared Home located in Durham, NC. Our house is handicapped accessible and located on the bus line. It consists of a living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 laundry rooms, 2 bath rooms, a den and 6 private lockable bedrooms. Bedrooms are furnished with a small refrigerator, TV, full size bed, dresser, night stand and a chair. Residents share the common areas and have the responsibility of cleaning and cooking. An onsite caretaker lives in separate quarters in the house.
Residents pay 30% of their income and have a private bedroom. They must meet HUD guidelines and be able to live independently. To apply, visit the FAQ's page.
